Changelog
What changed, and when
Every public release of the Mac app. Each one is signed by Apple’s Developer ID and notarized, and the older builds stay downloadable.
0.4.4 (18) current
7 October 2026
- Zoom pictures directly on the card again; the Mac supports trackpad magnification.
- A walk asks its first question without waiting for new rewordings. New wording is prepared for later walks.
- If a spoken question arrives without audio, the tutor retries it before listening for your answer.
0.4.3 (17)
6 October 2026
- Unlimited: unlimited voice reviews and deep dives, with no daily or monthly review quota or conversation time allowance. Subscribe in the iPhone app through Apple, then use “Connect your Mac” to share your subscription with the Mac.
0.4.2 (16)
5 October 2026
- Fixed: in a walk, the moment after the tutor’s verdict heard nothing you said. “On creuse” or “tell me more”, a “yes” to her offer to talk about the card, “garde-la pour la fin”: since 0.4.0 none of it reached the walk. It hears you again.
- If the microphone stops while you are answering, the tutor says so and asks the card again, instead of marking it missed.
- Under the verdict’s “Talk about it” button, the walk now says what you can say there, and how to keep a card to talk about after the last one.
- When your allowance for the day or the month is close, the tutor tells you how many cards are left: once in a walk, under the Voice tutor button, and on the tutor’s page, with when each allowance resets.
- A walk that reaches the end of an allowance ends as a finished walk, with a goodbye and its recap, and the card in hand is not graded unheard.
- A free trial that is over says why, with the way to subscribe under it.
0.4.1 (15)
2 October 2026
- New here? Start with a starter deck: thirty general-knowledge questions, in English or in French, that the voice tutor can ask at once. The first screen now says what the app is for, and takes an Anki export dropped on the window.
- Your Anki collection can come afterwards: “Import from Anki…” stays in the sidebar of a collection started in the app. The import takes its place, and what you made is set aside on the Mac, not deleted.
- A deck can let the voice tutor introduce its new cards: Options → “Ask new cards on a walk”. It is off unless you turn it on, and on for the starter deck.
- On a new Mac the tutor speaks the Mac’s language from the first walk: English, or French on a Mac set to French. It used to be French for everyone until changed.
- On a Mac with no trial yet, the Voice tutor button leads to the page that starts one, instead of into a walk that stopped at once.
- A second picture on a card’s field sits beside the first, as in Anki, and a picture can be dragged from one field of a card to another in the editor.
- A deck made in the app is no longer labelled “Imported from Anki” in its options.
0.4.0 (14)
29 September 2026
- Each card is asked, heard and corrected in its own language. A Spanish card is asked in Spanish and your answer is heard in Spanish; a Russian answer is heard through Apple’s dictation. “The teacher speaks” is now “Your language” (English or French): what the teacher says between cards, and how a card is heard when its own language cannot be told or is not one Apple’s speech recognition knows.
- GPT-6 Luna now grades your answers and rewords the questions; GPT-6 Sol writes the memory hooks.
- Stats, counted the way Anki counts them, for the collection or one deck: cards and mature cards, every review (the ones you brought from Anki included), your streak, true retention and a calendar of the year.
- Search your review history by the card’s words, the question you were asked or what you said. History now lists all of it.
- A walk shows the card’s pictures on the Mac too, beside the words or above them, and its recap shows each review the way History does, pictures included.
- A review in History or in a walk’s recap opens whole: the card as large as the window allows, with what you said and what the teacher said.
- A deck’s screen has four buttons of one size: Add card, Browse, Stats and Options. Times read as words (“Today, 18:43”), and deck counts stand in columns, as in Anki.
- Fixed: a reworded question could carry stray characters (“Jumiègesa0?”) or Markdown asterisks around a title. It is read as plain words now.
0.3.4 (13)
26 September 2026
- Fixed: in a deep dive on a Mac, the teacher heard nothing you said. The Mac’s microphone arrives as several channels, and merging them sent her silence; she now gets your voice.
- A deep dive is no longer offered on image occlusion cards, where the teacher had nothing to go on.
- ⌘⌫ deletes the card on screen, as in Anki, and ⌘Z brings it back. A card deleted in the middle of a session hands its place to the next one, so a day of 20 new cards stays 20.
- Pull the deck list down past its top to sync, as on the iPhone.
- Import CSV: a spreadsheet goes in the way Anki reads one, and a Gemini notebook’s italics and bold arrive as italics and bold.
- The card editor is rebuilt: a box to type in for each field, pictures pasted or dropped into a field, bold, italic and underline, a button for a cloze blank, and Anki’s Image Occlusion Mode (hide all, or hide one). “Add picture or sound…” puts the picture on the card again.
- A card you write is scheduled with its deck’s own FSRS parameters, as in Anki.
- Fixed: when macOS briefly refused Loudwalk its keychain, it could sign in as a new device and use up an activation of your licence. It now asks you to reopen it instead.
- A walk no longer ends on a single hiccup of the service.
0.3.3 (12)
20 September 2026
- Fixed: an export made with Anki’s default settings was refused as “unsupported or damaged”. Only exports made with “Support older Anki versions” ticked could be imported. If 0.3.2 turned your file away, this is why — it imports now.
- Going back to Anki: Backup & sync writes a .colpkg or an .apkg with your cards, every review you did in Loudwalk beside the ones you brought, and the schedule as it stands. It is checked against Anki itself before a release.
- An export made with “Support older Anki versions” now keeps its decks’ FSRS parameters, desired retention and relearning steps, instead of being scheduled on defaults.
- A card that was on its second learning step in Anki arrives on its second step, not back on the first.
0.3.2 (11)
20 September 2026
- Added the py-fsrs licence notice the app owes: its FSRS-6 memory model is a Swift port of py-fsrs 6.3.1 (MIT), and the notice was missing from the bundle.
- The scheduler’s parity tests against Anki’s recorded answers now run before a release is built.
0.3.1 (10)
20 September 2026
- A deep dive can be opened in the middle of a walk: say “tell me more”, or just ask your question after the verdict, and the review picks up again when you say “next”.
- The teacher offers a conversation herself on a card you have just missed, at most twice a walk.
- “Keep it for the end” saves a card for after the last one.
- Fixed: on a Mac with a multi-channel output (a Studio Display), a deep dive could not open the microphone at all.
0.3.0 (9)
19 September 2026
- Deep dive: a live spoken conversation with the teacher about one card, from the card on screen or from the list after a walk.
- Facts the teacher is unsure of are checked on the web while she talks.
- Each conversation is saved with the card and reread the next time you open one.
0.2.0 (5)
11 September 2026
- First public Mac release: import an Anki export, review on screen, and the voice tutor.
- Memory hooks: ask for a way to remember a card you keep missing.
On the iPhone
The iPhone app, where a walk is hands-free in a pocket, comes from the App Store, which keeps it up to date. This page is the Mac’s.
